Trust Your Moves
Trust Your Moves is a community singing project for queer and trans people, designed around connection, liberation and co-creation. Emily is the conductor, arranger, composer and instigator. We’ve presented six full concerts and been supported by Independence Foundation, Leeway Foundation, and SBMA. Hundreds of singers have participated in TYM, and we’ve collaborated with almost a dozen queer and trans composers to create brand-new choral works, including Julian Talamantez Brolaski, Daniel De Jesús, Thunder Thighs, Hermit High Priestess, Joel Chartkoff, Eddie Rubeiz, Snow Caps and Hot Tears.

Private Voice Lessons
I offer private voice lessons, virtually or in-person. I specialize in working with beginning singers, those interested in vocal technique and anatomy, songwriters, and trans & nonbinary voices, both singing and speech.
My studio is currently full. Add yourself to the waitlist for openings in 2026.
My rate is $50 for a 45 minute private lesson, either virtually or in person. Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours beforehand are subject to a $35 cancellation fee.
Vocal Workshops for Groups
Making Space
This workshop is designed to remove blocks to free vocal expression. We’ll explore a more spacious embodiment, one that we can make automatic with practice. When we make space, we can access more of our vocal range, especially high notes, and find new, richer resonance. We can sing bigger and more fearlessly, we can breathe more deeply, and we can feel more grounded and settled. Though we’ll focus on singing, these skills help us move through daily life with more ease, accessing creativity and play.
Sounding Out
Participants will explore their voices and engage in communal singing practices that ask: how does it feel to sing? Expect singing madlibs, vocal warm-ups, improvisation, simple rounds, time to journal and reflect, and some experiential anatomy lessons! Expect to learn something new about your voice!
Trans and Nonbinary Vocal Workshops with Julie Lipson (2022-2023)
A vocal exploration workshop for trans/nonbinary people to unlock greater access to the full range of vocal expression. Using a creative, play-based approach, we experiment with sound, pleasure, range, and resonance. We learn about vocal anatomy and health, hormones and voice, releasing tension, and breathwork. Come together in a group of trans and nonbinary voices to share stories, sing together, and open up new vocal possibilities.
